College of the Desert (COD) held its fourth annual Transfer Recognition Celebration on May 6, honoring over 50 students transferring from College of the Desert.

Khanh Hoang of COD's Transfer Center welcomed COD President Jerry Pat-ton, ASCOD President Michelle Price, and Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Diane N. Ramirez to the podium.

Patton, who holds two undergraduate and two graduate degrees, congratulated the recognized recipients, adding, "I am very proud of COD's future. We need more motivated students willing to step up, to be individuals.."

He encouraged students to further their education. "Get your bacholars degree. Get your master's degree. make a difference wherever life takes you."

Dr. Diane Ramirez, Vice President of Students Affairs, told students, "I know you are excited, or you would not be here. I hope you find a passion. We are proud of you. My personal congratulaton and pride goes forward to each of you in your travels."

Award recipients were given medals and plaques of recognition. An additional 16 students were awarded $8,000 to $10,000 scholarships. The awards were presented by Ernesto Rios, Program Director of Path-ways to Success, and Gene Marchu, Executive Director of the COD Alumni Association.
